AR COMP/80 gr SMK
« on: October 11, 2020, 07:07:59 PM »
I worked up loads in .2 increments based off Sierra's data today starting at 21.5 to 22.8 using Hornady brass(trimmed to 1.585) with COL 2.28+/- and BR-4 primers.  Had very good luck with the 80's and CFE 223 but had a few of these guys left over and wanted to try another powder.  As soon as the weather clears and i have a chance to send em I will post results.

Finally got to test my loads today and was fairly pleased.  I ran 7 different loads as previously mentioned from 21.5-22.8 in 3 shot groups except 4 @ 22.5 since i only 22 bullets leftover.  Tightest group was .72 with a 22.3gr charge, the 4 shot group was nice with the exception of the flyer which resulted in a 1.2" group...take that away and it was a .52.  No sign of pressure throughout the range.  I finally ordered a chrono, so next time i will post velocities.  I will say the AR COMP exceeded my expectations.  This was with a 1:7,24".
