I can't remember where exactly I saw it on the forum, but someone mentioned getting much better accuracy by seating the bullet out to 2.3". I had the opportunity yesterday to put some loads on paper at 100 yards that previously, when seated to 2.260", would be 1.5" or worse.
Two of the three loads didn't improve (R15 and ARCOMP) but my H414 load (4 rounds, cold bore included) made a .5" hole (edge to edge) with the bullet seated out to 2.288". Here's the particulars:
PSA 1:7, 20"
Starline brass, 2x, 1.590
28.7 / H414
75 grain Hornady ELDM
Magnum small pistol primer (CCI)
ACS 6.8 SPC mags
2840 fps (Magnetospeed)
This load proved more than adequate out to 1K even when seated to 2.260" so I'm expecting that this improvement will help make the targets a bit "larger".
