14.5" Valkyrie VS 14.5" Grendel
« on: August 21, 2018, 04:51:11 PM »
Post from another forum that this guy will not get an honest answer from so--"
Do we have any ballistic information for the 224 from this barrel legnth so that I can run a compare and see how drift and drop compare at 600 yards and how terminal Energy compares at 300 or less?

To be honest I do not like the thought of the barrel even This long but I would like something that will be title one configuration with a permanently attached FH mount, so 14-14.2 breech to muzzle.

Will be a cut down middy I guess so either way I can do 5/8 muzzle

ETA: has anyone killed anything w the 90g smk load, or isnt there a fusion load?"

With reloads the 80gr bullets should do best out of the Valkyrie. 24" 3000fps, 20" 2900fps, 16" 2800fps. A 14.5" should push 80s to 2760fps.

A Grendel shooting handloaded 123s will hit apx 2550 out of a 20" barrel, 2450 out of a 16" , 2410 out of a 14.5".  130s should hit around 2350fps out of the same 14.5"

Grendel with 123s drop at 600 106.8"...drift 39"...energy 977
Valkyrie with 80s   drop at 600   68".....drift 27.9...energy 898

Apx 10% less energy but 11" less drift and 38" less drop
