Anyone try Superformance or H414?
« on: October 25, 2018, 12:37:34 AM »
These are the 2 powders I picked up at Cabelas last month, along with some 75 Eld's.  Curious if anyone else has tried the powder.

I recently saw a youtube video of reloading both of these powders. I don't have time to look for it this morning, but it was a video by either Johnny's Reloading Bench or Dominick Delfino. Both of these guys have done extensive load testing for the Valkyrie. It is well worth browsing their videos.

I'm now using ARCOMP with the 75 ELDMs for reasons I'll explain later, but my initial 1K load with the Val (gas gun, 20", 1:7) was with 28.7 of H414 at 2825 fps.

At 100 I got .25" group. As the weather has changed, I started to see changes in velocity that concerned me since with my rig, 2800 fps was my bottom line to have this bullet stay supersonic past 1K. In addition, I got a new pound of H414 and it would not produce the same velocity at the same charge as my first. BTW, my loads are seated out to 2.295".

ARCOMP with the 75 ELDM has proven to be temperature insensitive and at 24.7 grains produces 2905 fps and a .3" group at 100. Just shot it in a PRS match at Peacemaker and it performed per my dope. The wind, however, had other plans from time to time.

Found a load with H414 and 88 ELD-M that shoots 3-shot groups averaging about .4" at just over 2700 fps. I think it will prove to be a bit hard on brass but it's not blowing out the pockets in one firing. Use caution, this is a warm load.

Haven't tried the 75 ELD. Been focusing mainly on heavy boolits.

This Little Round has been fun to full with I shot some Super Performance  & H 414  at lower loads it shoots good groups But lacks FPS  . Everything changes again at longer ranges    Any Day at the range is a Good Day

H414 which is the same as Win 760 has worked very well for me with 80 to 95 grain bullets as well. Dirty as heck though. I prefer RL17 but Win760 is great.

I have shot 100's of pounds of 760 over the Years in My 220 swifts  the one thing that scares me with it is it does not like Heat at all , Iam going to shoot some of that Stay Ball 6.5  and give you all a Report  Should be fun   Thanks for your info
